Lincoln Youth Soccer

Hillside Soccer Club has joined with Forest Heights, Skyline and Vista soccer clubs to form Lincoln Youth Soccer. LYS has Recreational teams from 6th - 8th grade. LYS also has a competitive option for U-9 and up. If your son or daughter is interested in a more competitive soccer option, please visit the LYS Competitive page for details. The LYS developemental program for U-9 and U-10 is a supplimental program for Hillside Recreational players that seem to need more soccer with more challenge. While continuing to play Hillside rec, select U-9 and U-10 players may also play with a LYS developmental team that plays games on Sundays in addition to their recreational games on Saturdays.

Volunteers needed at Hillside SC

Soccer is a team sport and so is running Hillside Soccer Club. Hillside is a volunteer run organization, with volunteer coaches and board members. We are always in need of volunteers.

Currently we are actively seeking new board members who can help the club administratively update the website, organize events, help with registration and communicate with members. If you are interested in serving on our board of directors, please contact Alison at hscpresident@lincolnyouthsoccer.org.

While coaches may appear to have it under control in your child's age group, there is always room for more parents to help out their team. Parents can offer to set up nets or cones for practice and games, ref the sideline, or help mange subs on one of the two 3V3 or 4V4 games. It is also helpful to have a team parent or manager who can do all of the team communications and help with end of the season celebrations. Please contact the head coach in your age group if you are willing to help out your team in any of these ways.

We encourage players to register early for the fall season.

Age Brackets

As many of you may know US Soccer, the governing body for soccer in this country came out with some player development initiatives that went into effect fall 2016. One of those initiatives is that US Soccer wants all teams to be formed based on the calendar year (January 1 to December 31 of a given birth year) rather than the school year / grade.

PYSA is the recreation league that our teams play in. PYSA has always formed teams based on school year / grade as this allows teams mates to be within their school grade as well as possibly classmates. PYSA will continue to form teams by school year/grade so there will be NO CHANGE to how recreational teams form their teams.

However, Developmental and Competitive teams through LYS, play in the OYSA league which has shifted to birth-year age groups as required by US soccer. For OYSA league games, Hillside/LYS players will generally be placed on teams with other players from their birth year. Sometimes a player will play up an age group becasue there is no competitive option for their age group, but generally Hillside encourages players to play within their age group, with and against other players born in the same year.

* Placement on a team is only guaranteed if registered before the deadline. Late registration will require approval from coach and club before being accepted. There will also be a $25 late fee for late registration.
